CDA launches child protection drive
The Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA) launched a comprehensive educational campaign on the Law of the Rights of the Child (Wadeema) aimed at social workers and teachers in Dubai schools together with parents and children.
The first phase of the campaign, which will last until the end of the year, is being organized in collaboration with Unicef and the Judicial Institute of Dubai under the theme "My right".
The campaign began at a ceremony held at the School of Research Sciences in Al Warqa in Dubai when speakers said the campaign aims to spread legal awareness about child rights among child care providers from various sectors, especially the education sector.
Maitha Al Shamsi, CEO, Human Rights Sector, CDA, speaking with the media, highlighted the essence of the campaign: "Campaign workshops will present the Children's Rights Act of the United Arab Emirates explaining its various articles and details and highlighting several cases in the protection of children's rights, abuse and neglect.The workshops will also educate participants about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child signed by the United Arab Emirates in 1997. "
